Our story begins with a paradox hiding in plain sight: in the very cities where food is abundant, hunger persists.
Our founder, Albert Lam, saw this contradiction through the eyes of a father, a cook, and an entrepreneur. As a father, he worried about his family and countless others relying on takeout of inconsistent quality. As a citizen, he witnessed mountains of perfectly edible food being discarded while neighbors in his own community struggled to find their next meal.
This conflict sparked a resolution, guided by a piece of timeless wisdom: “Do not impose on others what you would not choose for yourself.” (己所不欲,勿施於人)
The implication was clear. If we wouldn’t serve a questionable meal to our own family, we shouldn’t serve it to our customers. And if we can’t bear to see good food go to waste, we shouldn’t turn a blind eye to those in need.
This conviction gave birth to EATBOX—not as a single company, but as a complete ecosystem with an engine for progress and a soul dedicated to purpose.
